A devastating road accident in Saudi Arabia has claimed the lives of five Pakistani Umrah pilgrims, including three women, when their bus crashed on the way back from Badr to Madina. The incident occurred as the pilgrims were returning after visiting the historic battlefield of Badr.
Initial reports indicate that the majority of those on board the ill-fated bus were residents of Bahawalnagar district. The deceased included Rukhsana Bibi and Amina Bibi from village 228/9-R in Fort Abbas, two women from Dahran Wala, and an elderly man, Manzoor Hussain, from village 39/3-R.

Several others sustained injuries in the crash and have been transferred to hospitals across Madina for medical treatment. According to officials, four injured individuals, including two women, are being treated at the Saudi-German Hospital. Meanwhile, three more injured — also including two women — are receiving care at King Fahd Hospital, and one woman is being treated at King Salman Hospital.
Muhammad Khalid, a family member of the victims, shared his grief: “My sister and two cousins lost their lives in the accident while heading to Madina from Badr.”
Following the tragedy, Pakistan’s Consul General in Jeddah, Khalid Majeed, confirmed that the consulate is actively coordinating with Saudi authorities and the Umrah organizing company to provide support. He added that the necessary No Objection Certificates (NOCs) have been issued for the burial of three victims in Saudi Arabia.
Family members of the deceased have also opted for their burial in the Kingdom.
