The price of 22-karat gold also saw a decrease, with 10 grams now selling at Rs273,107, down Rs1,494 from Rs274,601.
Silver prices followed the downward trend, with the rate for one tola declining by Rs38 to Rs3,428, and 10 grams reducing by Rs33 to Rs2,938.
Analysts link the drop in precious metal prices to ongoing economic uncertainties and inflationary pressures, despite gold and silver remaining favored safe-haven assets amidst currency instability and financial market fluctuations.
