$1bn Deal on the Cards as Saudi Delegation to Visit Pakistan This Week

$1bn Deal on the Cards as Saudi Delegation to Visit Pakistan This Week

ISLAMABAD – A high-level Saudi delegation, led by Prince Mansour bin Mohammed Al Saud, is set to arrive in Pakistan this week to explore new investment opportunities across multiple sectors.

The upcoming visit marks another milestone in the strengthening of Pakistan–Saudi Arabia relations, coming shortly after the signing of a historic mutual defence agreement between the two countries.

$1 Billion Investment Expected

According to reliable sources, the Saudi delegation is expected to announce an investment package worth up to $1 billion. The funds will target sectors including technology, agriculture, food processing, sports equipment, and defence production.

The visiting officials will also evaluate potential partnerships in petrochemical plants, government institutions, and the Reko Diq mining project. However, sources suggest that the investment scale may depend on Pakistan’s ongoing economic reforms, particularly those aimed at improving transparency and easing restrictions on foreign investors.

Strengthened Ties After Shehbaz–MBS Meeting

The Saudi delegation’s visit follows Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent trip to Riyadh, where he met Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) at the Yamama Palace. Both leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to deepening economic, strategic, and Islamic cooperation.

During his arrival, PM Shehbaz received a warm welcome, including a guard of honour and a ceremonial escort by Saudi Air Force F-15 jets β€” a powerful symbol of growing goodwill between the two allies.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office hailed the development as a step toward β€œconsolidating historic partnerships” and revealed that both nations are now focusing on energy and infrastructure collaboration.

Mutual Defence Pact Strengthens Alliance

The visit also comes in the wake of a landmark defence accord between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. The agreement ensures joint protection of the Two Holy Mosques and stipulates that any external aggression against one nation will be considered an attack on both.

Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir played a crucial role in facilitating the pact, which aims to bolster defence cooperation and enhance regional stability through joint military strategies.
