Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has convened a high-level meeting with senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders to discuss Sindh-Punjab tensions, ARY News reported on Wednesday. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi will also attend the session to address the ongoing political dispute between the two provinces.
According to sources, Mohsin Naqvi is expected to hold a separate meeting with the Prime Minister, during which he will deliver a message from President Asif Ali Zardari. The discussions aim to explore solutions to ease political strain and maintain stability in the country.
President Zardari had earlier summoned Mohsin Naqvi to Karachi to discuss Sindh-Punjab tensions. The meeting at Bilawal House focused on the prevailing political situation and emphasized the need for dialogue to resolve conflicts between Sindh and Punjab.
During the Karachi meeting, President Zardari reportedly urged Interior Minister Naqvi to actively participate in defusing tensions. The president stressed that cooperation among political stakeholders is critical to prevent further escalation and ensure governance continuity.
Sources indicate that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharifβs consultations with senior PML-N leaders are also designed to strategize engagement with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leadership in the coming days. These discussions will further aim to discuss Sindh-Punjab tensions and find a balanced approach acceptable to all parties.
Political analysts note that these talks come amid growing concerns about inter-provincial disputes affecting national governance. By involving key leaders from both PML-N and PPP, the government aims to create a cooperative framework to manage tensions effectively.
The outcome of these meetings is expected to play a crucial role in stabilizing relations between Sindh and Punjab, ensuring smoother legislative cooperation and reducing political friction.
