Pakistan’s young wrestler Hassan Ali added to the country’s growing success at the Pakistan Asian Youth Games, winning a bronze medal in the beach wrestling category in Sama Bay, Bahrain.
Guided by wrestling legend Mohammad Inam Butt, the 17-year-old showcased skill and resilience. After a semi-final loss to Iran’s Sina Shokouhi, Hassan bounced back to defeat Tajikistan’s Idris Bakhromov 2-0, securing a place on the podium.
Earlier in the competition, Hassan had defeated Jordan’s Marafi Abdul Rahman and another Tajik opponent, Bazaarzada, demonstrating both technical maturity and mental toughness. His semi-final opponent, Sina Shokouhi, ultimately went on to win the gold medal.
While Hassan’s triumph boosted Pakistan’s medal tally, fellow wrestler Abdul Rehman narrowly missed out, losing 2-0 to Jordan’s Zaid Naghouj in the 65kg bronze medal match.
Hassan’s bronze marks Pakistan’s third medal at the Games, joining a silver in volleyball and a bronze in kabaddi. The performance of these young athletes is being hailed as a sign of Pakistan’s promising sporting future, despite limited resources.
The success at the Pakistan Asian Youth Games reflects the dedication of the country’s youth, who continue to make their mark on the Asian sporting stage.
