FBR Recovers Rs. 4 Million From Cheezious in Tax Enforcement Action

The Regional Tax Office (RTO) Sahiwal, under the FBR, has recovered Rs. 4 million from the fast-food brand Cheezious during an enforcement operation. The action was carried out under Section 175C of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001.

According to an official statement issued by the Revenue Division, the FBR took action after a monitoring team identified a mismatch between reported sales and actual business activity. Authorities suspected significant discrepancies in declared turnover.

A dedicated enforcement team from RTO Sahiwal visited the business premises. They monitored sales operations and checked financial records. During this process, irregularities were reportedly observed in daily sales reporting.

Following the findings, the FBR initiated formal enforcement proceedings. The company was directed to pay Rs. 4 million. Officials confirmed that the amount has been deposited into the national exchequer.

The FBR stated that such actions are part of its ongoing efforts to improve tax compliance across the country. Authorities are increasing monitoring activities to identify underreporting and prevent tax evasion.

In response to the action, Cheezious reportedly said the issue was due to an error at the FBR end. The company also stated that discussions were ongoing to resolve the matter.

The RTO Sahiwal praised its enforcement team for their performance during the operation. Officials said that strict monitoring will continue in the future to strengthen compliance.

The FBR emphasized that it is committed to expanding the tax base and improving documentation across all business sectors. It also aims to ensure that all eligible taxpayers contribute fairly to the national revenue system.

Authorities further stated that enforcement actions will continue against businesses involved in irregular reporting. The goal is to safeguard national revenue and improve transparency in financial records.

Officials believe that consistent monitoring by the FBR will help reduce tax evasion and improve overall economic stability. They also highlighted the importance of building a stronger tax culture in the country.
