Police reported that alleged dacoits killed during an encounter in Karachi were linked to serious criminal activity. The incident took place in the Pak Colony area, according to officials.
SSP Keamari Amjad Shaikh said three suspects died during the exchange of fire. The suspects were identified as Hanif, Gulab, and Suleman. Police stated they were wanted in more than 35 criminal cases.
The cases included bank robberies and attacks on police teams. SSP Shaikh said the suspects had long criminal records. Law enforcement agencies had been tracking them for some time.
Police said officers moved in after receiving intelligence about their presence. When police approached, the suspects opened fire. Officers returned fire, leading to the encounter.
During the operation, police recovered three pistols. Ammunition and mobile phones were also seized. Officials said the recovered items would help further investigations.
SSP Shaikh explained that the group was active across Karachi. The suspects targeted banks and customers withdrawing cash. Before robberies, one accomplice would enter banks for surveillance.
Police said the suspects recently robbed a citizen in Mauripur. The victim was carrying Rs150,000 withdrawn from a bank. Gulab allegedly monitored customers leaving banks with cash.
Authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing. Police are trying to arrest other gang members. Raids are being conducted in several areas of the city.
In a separate incident, alleged dacoits killed in Rawalpindi were linked to a deadly crime. Police said four suspects died in an encounter in the Saddar Beroni area.
Officials stated the group was part of an inter-district gang. The suspects were also involved in contract killings. Earlier, they allegedly killed a trader during a robbery.
Police said the suspects had snatched a car at gunpoint. After the incident, police received an alert and started a chase. The suspects attempted to escape the area.
Officers tried to stop them at a checkpoint. Police said the suspects opened heavy fire. This led to a gun battle between both sides.
During the exchange, four suspects were killed. Police said they were hit by bullets fired by their own accomplices. No police injuries were reported.
Authorities said weapons were recovered from the scene. The area was later cleared and secured. Further investigation is underway to identify facilitators.
Police said such operations aim to reduce street crime. Officials urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement. They also asked the public to report suspicious activity.
