Cairo: The IAEA chief Rafael Grossi announced on Tuesday that he had reached an understanding with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on resuming inspection activities in Iran.
Grossi shared the development on social media, saying both sides agreed on practical steps to restart the monitoring process. “This is an important step in the right direction,” the IAEA chief stated.
He also thanked Egypt’s Foreign Ministry for its role in facilitating the agreement. Grossi expressed gratitude to Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty for his commitment and support in helping bridge differences between Tehran and the nuclear watchdog.
The move comes after months of tension. Iran had earlier suspended cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), accusing it of bias. The decision followed recent US and Israeli strikes on Iranian territory, which escalated regional tensions.
