Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar reached Saudi Arabia on Monday to attend the 21st extraordinary session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The important meeting is being held at the OIC Secretariat in Jeddah.
Dar was welcomed at King Abdulaziz International Airport by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the OIC, Fawad Sher, along with Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ahmed Farooq and Consul General Khalid Majeed.
According to the Foreign Office, the session will review Israel’s aggression in Gaza and its plan to gain full military control over the region. The agenda also includes widespread human rights violations against Palestinians. OIC members are expected to adopt a joint strategy to address the crisis and arrange urgent humanitarian aid for civilians in Gaza.
During the session, Ishaq Dar will highlight Pakistan’s firm stance on the Palestinian issue. He will call for Israel’s withdrawal from all occupied territories, including Jerusalem, and emphasize the need for an independent Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders. He is also expected to stress the importance of immediate humanitarian assistance for Gaza.
Apart from the OIC session, the deputy prime minister will also hold bilateral meetings with foreign ministers of key member countries. These talks aim to build consensus on the Palestine issue and explore opportunities for wider regional cooperation.
The visit underlines Pakistan’s commitment to supporting Palestine on all international platforms. Ishaq Dar is expected to use the opportunity to push for stronger collective action within the OIC and closer coordination among Muslim states on pressing regional challenges.
