Sindh Governor Approves Stricter Motor Vehicles Bill

Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori has signed the Sindh Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill 2025 under Article 116 of the Constitution. The law has been made effective immediately.

The amendment introduces tougher rules for driving licenses and stricter penalties for traffic violations. Officials stated that the law aims to improve road safety and ensure compliance with traffic regulations across the province.

According to the bill, violations of the Motor Vehicles Act will result in strict legal action. Additional requirements have been added for heavy vehicle licenses to ensure only qualified drivers operate such vehicles.

Under the new rules, pre-license training courses have been made mandatory for Light Transport Vehicle (LTV) and Heavy Transport Vehicle (HTV) licenses. Authorities believe this step will reduce accidents and create more responsible drivers on the road.

Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori emphasized that the law is designed to safeguard citizens and maintain order on busy roads. The move has been welcomed by traffic authorities, who have long stressed the need for reforms in the licensing system.

Traffic experts say the new system could help control reckless driving, particularly in major cities like Karachi, where traffic violations are common. They also noted that proper training would prepare drivers to handle vehicles more responsibly.

Citizens have been advised to follow the new rules carefully to avoid heavy fines and legal consequences. The Sindh Governor’s decision marks a significant step toward improving road discipline and reducing accidents in the province.

The amended Motor Vehicles Bill reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening road safety and ensuring public protection. Officials will closely monitor its implementation in the coming months.
