Terrorists Arrested in Karachi as CTD Foils Major Attack Plot

Karachi authorities have registered a terrorism case after a large cache of explosives was recovered from Baldia Rais Goth. The operation led to terrorists arrested who were planning a major attack in the city, officials confirmed.

According to counterterrorism sources, intelligence agencies received information about suspicious activity in the Baldia area. Acting on this tip, law enforcement conducted a targeted raid. During the operation, officers recovered nearly 2,000 kilograms of explosive material. More than 30 drums filled with explosives were seized. Five gas cylinders were also found at the site.

Investigators revealed that the suspects were preparing a truck for a possible terrorist attack. The vehicle was being modified to carry the explosive load. Officials said the planned attack could have caused massive destruction in a crowded area of Karachi.

During questioning, one suspect provided information about other members of the network. Based on this identification, two more accomplices were apprehended in follow-up raids. The terrorists arrested were found to be linked with the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), specifically the Commander Bashir group.

Police have registered a case under several serious laws. These include provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Act and the Explosives Act. Authorities stated that the legal process is underway and evidence is being documented carefully.

Sindh Interior Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar confirmed the arrests during a briefing. He said the suspects were planning to target civilians at a sensitive location in Karachi. He assured the public that security agencies are committed to exposing the entire network behind the plot.

DIG CTD Sindh Ghulam Azfar Mahesar shared further details during a television appearance. He stated that the explosive material was transported from Balochistan to Karachi. The transfer was done secretly through multiple routes to avoid detection.

Mahesar explained that the group aimed to disrupt Karachiโ€™s economic activities. The goal was to spread fear and create the impression that the city is unsafe for business and daily life. He emphasized that the situation is now under control.

All explosive materials have been secured by law enforcement. Officials confirmed that individuals intended to carry out suicide attacks have also been detained. The terrorists arrested are currently under intensive interrogation.
