The proposed budget includes a 5 to 7 percent tax increase on various facial and beauty products, adding to the financial strain on consumers.
Shopkeepers in the city are also worried, predicting a decline in sales if prices rise as expected. They stress that higher taxes will directly affect consumer affordability and purchasing power.
One shopkeeper commented, “If the goods become more expensive, naturally the sales will also decrease.”
There is a call for the government to reconsider the tax hike on these products, suggesting that relief be provided to ensure continued access to essential beauty items.
