Pakistanis Have a Chance to Win $50,000 From ChatGPT

Pakistanis Have a Chance to Win $50,000 From ChatGPT

Pakistani researchers now have an opportunity to apply for a reward of up to $50,000 through a new program launched by ChatGPT owner OpenAI. The initiative is designed for experts working in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and biological safety.

OpenAI has confirmed that Pakistan is included in the list of eligible countries on the application page. This means researchers based in Pakistan can submit their applications for consideration. However, participation is not open to everyone, as the program is private and only selected applicants will be invited.

The company has expanded its previous GPT-5.5 Bio Bug Bounty into a long-term initiative known as the OpenAI Bio Bounty Program. The updated program aims to strengthen the safety protections built into OpenAIโ€™s advanced AI systems.

The focus of the program is to identify security weaknesses related to biological safety. OpenAI wants researchers to find a universal jailbreak that can bypass the biosafety protections of its frontier AI models, beginning with GPT-5.6 and future versions.

A universal jailbreak is a single prompt or technique that consistently defeats the modelโ€™s biological safeguards across an entire testing set. OpenAI says simply finding different workarounds for individual questions will not qualify.

The company plans to use the findings to improve the safety measures built into its future AI systems. The goal is to reduce the risk of misuse while making advanced models more secure.

OpenAI has also increased the maximum reward available under the program. The top payout has been doubled from $25,000 to $50,000. The full reward will be given for successfully discovering a universal jailbreak affecting GPT-5.5 or GPT-5.6.

Smaller rewards may also be offered for partial findings. The company will decide these payouts based on the value of each submission.

Testing under the original GPT-5.5 Bio Bug Bounty will continue until July 27, 2026. After that date, GPT-5.5 will no longer be included in the program unless OpenAI announces further updates. The focus will then shift to GPT-5.6.

Researchers interested in joining must complete an application form. Applicants are required to provide their name, country, organization, and relevant experience. They must also have an existing ChatGPT account before applying.

OpenAI will review applications as they are received. Selected researchers will gain access to the private testing platform after signing a non-disclosure agreement. Those who previously applied to the GPT-5.5 Bio Bug Bounty do not need to apply again.

The company has clarified that this is not a public giveaway for all ChatGPT users. Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance into the program. Only approved researchers will be invited to participate.

The opportunity is mainly intended for professionals with experience in AI red teaming, cybersecurity, biological safety, or related technical fields. OpenAI also continues to operate separate Safety Bug Bounty and Security Bug Bounty programs for other areas of AI and cybersecurity research.

For qualified Pakistani researchers, the new initiative provides a chance to contribute to AI safety while competing for rewards of up to $50,000.
