The Islamabad administration has announced plans to establish six official cattle markets in the federal capital ahead of Eidul Adha 2026. The markets will begin operating from May 10 to facilitate the sale and purchase of sacrificial animals.
Officials said the move aims to improve arrangements for citizens during the busy Eid season. Authorities also want to ensure better traffic management, sanitation, and security across the city during the days leading up to Eidul Adha.
According to the district administration, the six designated cattle markets will be set up at different locations in Islamabad. These include Zia Mosque, I-12 Sector, Barah Kahu, Lehtrar Road near Sultana Foundation, Sangjani, and Japan Road.
The Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad has directed all concerned departments to complete arrangements before the opening date. Officials have been instructed to ensure proper parking spaces, cleanliness, and security measures at every market.
Authorities stated that magistrates will remain present at all cattle markets throughout operating hours. Their responsibility will include monitoring prices and handling public complaints. Officials warned that any reports of excessive fees beyond officially notified rates would be addressed immediately.
The administration has also prepared special traffic management plans for roads near the markets. Traffic police will work closely with district authorities to reduce congestion and maintain smooth vehicle movement in surrounding areas.
Officials said strict action would be taken against the buying and selling of sacrificial animals outside the approved locations. The administration believes this step will help avoid traffic problems and maintain public order during Eidul Adha preparations.
Every year, thousands of citizens visit cattle markets to purchase animals before the religious festival. The administration expects a large number of buyers and traders at the six approved sites this year as well.
