Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Flood Alert Due to Rising Nullah Lai Water Levels

Heavy rains in Rawalpindi and Islamabad have led to significant flooding in Nullah Lai. The downpour has increased water levels in the channel, triggering pre-alert flood warnings.

Rain began earlier this week and continues, prompting evacuations from low-lying areas. Water levels at Gawalmandi bridge reached 17 feet, with other points at 23 feet.

Authorities have declared a pre-alert flood situation, and WASA is monitoring drainage systems to prevent a flood emergency.

The Met Office forecasts humid weather with rain and thunderstorms in the capital city and nearby areas both in the morning and at night. Temperatures in the twin cities are expected to range from 33 to 35 degrees Celsius, with high humidity.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned that monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal are persistently affecting the upper regions of the country.
