Islamabad’s Famous Restaurant Monal Closes its Doors Permanently

The renowned Monal restaurant in Islamabad has announced its permanent closure, effective September 11, due to a Supreme Court of Pakistan directive. The court ordered the shutdown of all restaurants within Margalla National Park, aiming to preserve the park’s biodiversity and natural habitat.

The restaurant made the announcement on social media, stating that, in compliance with the Supreme Court’s order, it would close its doors on September 11, 2024. This ruling came in response to a case about the legality of operating restaurants within the protected area.

The court’s decision underscores the need to protect natural habitats from human activities that threaten ecological balance. By closing down Monal and other similar establishments, the court intends to mitigate human impact on the park and ensure its preservation.

Monal has been a popular destination for both locals and tourists, offering scenic views and a unique dining experience. However, the restaurant’s closure marks the end of an era, and the management has yet to reveal any plans for relocating or continuing operations elsewhere.
