Pink Wheels Project Launched in Gujranwala for Women’s Safety

The Gujranwala Police, with support from the chamber of commerce and industry, has launched the Pink Wheels pilot project to protect women. This initiative involves a special response unit of female police officers equipped with ten Pink Wheels scooters. These officers will address issues such as domestic violence, rape, and acid attacks, responding quickly to emergency calls received via the 15 helpline or the Police Women Safety App.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz highlighted the project on X, emphasizing that female officers will be the first responders to women in distress, positioning Punjab as a leader in this initiative. Initially, the project will operate in four police station areas: Cantt, Satellite Town, Kotwali, and Saddar, where the Pink Wheels teams will secure crime scenes, provide legal protection, and coordinate with other departments as needed.
