ISLAMABAD: PM Shehbaz Sharif is set to meet Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi at the Prime Minister House in Islamabad during a key diplomatic visit focused on regional peace and security.
The Iranian foreign minister arrived in Pakistan along with a high-level delegation. Officials said the meeting with PM Shehbaz will also include Pakistanโs senior political and military leadership.
Sources said the Iranian delegation will leave for Muscat and Moscow after concluding talks in Islamabad. These visits are expected to play an important role in ongoing diplomatic efforts in the region.
Officials revealed that Pakistan plans to brief United States authorities about the discussions held with the Iranian delegation. A decision on a possible US visit to Pakistan will be made after reviewing the outcome of these talks.
Sources added that no final timeline has been set for direct talks between the United States and Iran. More clarity is expected after Abbas Araghchi completes his visits to Muscat and Moscow.
Before his scheduled meeting with PM Shehbaz, the Iranian foreign minister held an important meeting with Syed Asim Munir in Islamabad.
During the meeting, both sides discussed Pakistan-Iran bilateral relations, defence cooperation, and regional security matters. They also exchanged views on national security concerns and the changing situation in the region.
Senior Pakistani officials attended the talks. These included DG ISI and National Security Adviser Asim Malik and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
The Iranian delegation included Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi, Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghadam, and Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei Hamaneh.
According to Iranian state media, Araghchi is carrying Tehranโs formal and comprehensive response to proposals discussed during earlier meetings with Pakistanโs military leadership.

Officials from both countries stressed the need for continued consultations to strengthen diplomatic ties and promote regional peace.
