Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma has clarified that India’s participation in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan is up to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and not influenced by players’ preferences.
“The decision is not in our hands; it will be made by the cricket boards,” Sharma stated, emphasizing that players will follow BCCI’s directive. “If we are sent to Pakistan, there will be no issue,” he added.

The tournament, scheduled for February 19 to March 9, is uncertain due to the BCCI’s stance, as they await government guidance. A “hybrid model,” potentially splitting games between Pakistan and a neutral venue like the UAE or Sri Lanka, has emerged as a possible compromise.
In response, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi voiced disappointment over the lack of formal communication from the BCCI and ICC but confirmed PCB’s continued preparations for a full tournament in Pakistan. The ICC has postponed the tournament schedule announcement, originally set for November 11, pending further discussions.
