Indian media reports insist their team will not travel, and there have been no discussions between the ICC and BCCI about the tournament.
The BCCI states that India will only visit Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy in February if the Indian government permits, marking their first visit to Pakistan in 17 years. PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi hopes the tournament will take place in Pakistan with India’s participation.
After the T20 World Cup final in Barbados, Naqvi spoke in Lahore, expressing optimism but refraining from commenting on India’s participation. He noted that Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi stadiums need upgrades and suggested Australia as an alternative series location.
India last visited Karachi for the Asia Cup in 2008, while Pakistan played in Bangalore, Chennai, and Kolkata in October 2023 for the World Cup.
Despite PCB announcing tournament dates, Indian media reports claim their team won’t travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy from February 19 to March 9.
The decision hinges on the Indian government, but PCB plans to address the issue at the ICC meeting in Sri Lanka next month, where Naqvi will participate.
The BCCI, led by BJP leader Jay Shah, awaits final decisions from the Modi government.
