Indian Team Won’t Travel to Pakistan for Champions Trophy”: Vikrant Gupta

Indian Team Won't Travel to Pakistan for Champions Trophy Vikrant Gupta

The ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan in cricket have escalated with Indian sports journalist Vikrant Gupta revealing that India will not be traveling to Pakistan for the upcoming Champions Trophy. This decision has not been officially communicated but is said to have been conveyed indirectly through media channels. Gupta mentioned that this information is aimed at mentally preparing Pakistan for India’s likely withdrawal, noting that the Indian cricket board (BCCI) never had full control over the decision, and it always seemed unlikely that India would agree to participate.

The situation has raised further questions regarding security concerns, as former Pakistani cricketer Rashid Latif pointed out that other countries such as Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and England had recently toured Pakistan without incident. This has led some to question whether security concerns are being used as a pretext.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not received any formal communication from the BCCI, with PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi confirming in an interview that no official letter had been sent. He stated that if a formal notice were received, the board would approach the government but, for now, would continue preparations for the Champions Trophy.

This development has fueled speculation about the future of the tournament and the potential for a “hybrid” model, with matches being held at neutral venues to accommodate both countries. The media speculation and lack of official communication have sparked a wider debate about the ongoing diplomatic and cricketing relations between the two nations.
