On Thursday, former captain Mohammad Hafeez made public his decision to leave the Technical Committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Hafeez announced it on X (formerly known as Twitter), thanking Zaka Ashraf and sending his best wishes to Pakistan cricket. Hafeez served as an honorary member of the committee.

After serving on the committee for just under two months, Hafeez decided to leave. He also attended the meeting yesterday to discuss the Pakistan Men’s Cricket Team performance at the ACC Asia Cup 2023, which was presided over by Zaka Ashraf.

The meeting also included members of the National coaching staff, led by Mickey Arthur, as well as head coach Grant Bradburn, batting coach Andrew Puttick, bowling coach Morne Morkel, captain Babar Azam, and vice-captain Shadab Khan.

Hafeez wrote in his post, “I have decided to leave the Pakistan cricket technical committee. As an honorary member, I participated. I appreciate Zaka Ashraf sb providing me this chance, and I thank him for it. As always, I wish Pakistani cricket the best. It’s “Pakistan Zindabad.”

Recall that the prominent Cricket Technical Committee was constituted by the PCB last month under the leadership of former Test cricketer Misbah-ul-Haq.

Former Test cricketers Inzamam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Hafeez were on the committee. Inzamam was later appointed Pakistan’s chief selector, though.

The committee was established to offer advice on issues pertaining to cricket, such as but not limited to, the overall domestic structure, scheduling, playing conditions, the appointment of the national selection committees, the appointment of national team coaches, central and domestic contracts, and strategies for the development of umpires, referees, and curators.

They will also have the authority to select new cricket specialists, and they will frequently report to the chairman of the PCB Management Committee.
