Mohammad Rizwan becomes leading six-hitter in second T20I

In the second T20I against New Zealand at Seddon Park, Hamilton, Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batsman, Mohammad Rizwan, achieved a significant T20I milestone by becoming the leading six-hitter for Pakistan in T20 Internationals. Rizwan now has 77 sixes to his name, surpassing Mohammad Hafeez, who is second on the list with 76 sixes.

The list of most sixes for Pakistan in T20I cricket now stands as follows:

  1. Mohammad Rizwan — 77
  2. Mohammad Hafeez — 76
  3. Shahid Afridi — 73
  4. Shoaib Malik — 69
  5. Babar Azam — 55
  6. Umar Akmal — 55

During Pakistan’s pursuit of a target of 195 runs in the second T20I against New Zealand, Rizwan contributed to the chase by hitting a six off Tim Southee in the early stages. However, he was dismissed by Adam Milne in the second over after scoring just seven runs.

Despite a commendable effort from star batter Babar Azam, who top-scored with 66 runs off 43 balls, Pakistan fell short of the target by 21 runs, as New Zealand clinched victory in the match.

In the first innings, Finn Allen’s explosive innings of 74 runs off 41 balls propelled New Zealand to a total of 194 runs. Despite Allen’s excellent start, Pakistani bowlers made a strong comeback, with Haris Rauf taking three wickets in the 19th over. The visitors’ bowlers, except skipper Shaheen Afridi, all contributed with wickets, restricting New Zealand to 194 runs.
