PJ Mir Claims Rashid Lateef Slapped Javed Miandad

Former Pakistan wicketkeeper Rashid Latif has taken legal action against former Pakistan cricketer turned journalist, PJ Mir, in response to what he deemed defamatory statements made by Mir regarding both Latif and Javed Miandad. A legal notice has been issued, demanding an apology from Mir within a 14-day period. Failure to comply with this demand could result in Mir being liable to pay an astounding Rs 1 Billion as compensation for the harm caused to the reputation of the former cricketer.

The controversy stems from PJ Mir’s assertion that Rashid Latif had slapped Javed Miandad during Pakistan’s tour of the West Indies in 1993, a claim made on live television. In reaction to these allegations, Rashid Latif vehemently denied the incident, asserting that he neither raised his voice nor resorted to physical aggression towards the legendary cricketer. Latif went on to express his deep respect for Javed Miandad, describing him as a national hero and a source of pride for Pakistan.

In a statement shared via his social media platform, Latif addressed the situation and revealed the legal notice served to PJ Mir through his attorney. He emphasized the need for a full and unconditional apology, along with a proper retraction of the statements made about both himself and Javed Miandad.

PJ Mir initially made these sensational claims while recounting past dressing room tensions on Samaa TV. His account of the incident left fellow panelists, including former cricketers Shahid Afridi and Mushtaq Ahmed, in disbelief. Mir further detailed the turmoil within Pakistan’s dressing room during the 1993 West Indies tour and advised Javed Miandad to let go of the alleged incident.

This legal dispute has captured the attention of cricket enthusiasts and media alike, creating a buzz within the cricketing community. It remains to be seen how this controversy will unfold and whether a resolution can be reached within the specified timeframe.
