Sarfaraz Ahmed Denies Reports of Leaving Pakistan

Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has vehemently denied reports suggesting his departure from Pakistan. He categorically stated, “I can’t even think of leaving Pakistan. Confirm before running such fabricated news.” Sarfaraz clarified that no player had been removed from the team this time, dismissing any notions of him leaving the country.

Earlier, there were rumors circulating that Sarfaraz Ahmed was bidding farewell to Pakistan and relocating to London, UK, with his wife and two kids. The news created concern and speculation among cricket fans. Sarfaraz expressed his frustration about the inaccurate reports, urging news sources to verify information before disseminating it, emphasizing the potential negative impact on players and the sport itself.

Sarfaraz Ahmed, the only Pakistan captain to win a 50-over world title since Imran Khan, took over as the ODI team captain in February 2017. Despite initial challenges in the Champions Trophy, the team rebounded, securing victories against South Africa, Sri Lanka, England, and eventually India to clinch the trophy. Sarfaraz led the team until October 2019, after which a dip in his performance led to his removal as captain in all formats and exclusion from the team.

Having made a comeback to the national team in early 2023 in the red-ball format, Sarfaraz was also part of the recent Test series against Australia, showcasing his resilience and continued commitment to cricket.
