Google is expected to introduce its latest AI initiative, “Project Jarvis,” as early as December, focusing on automating digital tasks for users. According to reports from The Information, this tool is designed to handle various tasks such as gathering research, purchasing products, and booking flights, based on insights from sources familiar with the project.
Powered by an upcoming version of Google’s Gemini, Project Jarvis will operate exclusively within the Chrome browser. The tool aims to automate everyday web tasks by analyzing on-screen elements, allowing it to interact by clicking buttons and entering text after capturing screenshots. Initial reports indicate that it takes “a few seconds” to complete each action.

This development aligns with trends among major tech companies enhancing digital task automation. For instance, Microsoft is preparing its Copilot Vision, which will enable users to engage in conversations about the webpages they visit, while Apple Intelligence is expected to manage actions across multiple applications within the next year. Although Anthropic has released a beta version of Claude, it has faced challenges, described as “cumbersome and error-prone,” while OpenAI is reportedly developing a similar model.
However, The Information notes that Google’s plan to preview Jarvis in December may still evolve, with a potential limited release for select testers to iron out any issues before a broader
launch.
