Israeli Forces Step Up Assault on Hospitals in Northern Gaza

Gaza

Israeli military forces have intensified their operations in northern Gaza, besieging hospitals and shelters for displaced civilians, exacerbating an already dire humanitarian crisis as food and water supplies dwindle. On Monday, Israeli troops surrounded and attacked three hospitals—Al-Awda, Kamal Adwan, and the Indonesian hospital—straining their capacity to care for an overwhelming influx of patients.

Reports indicate that Israeli forces detained men from a school-turned-shelter and set the building on fire, leading to power outages at the Indonesian hospital. Kamal Adwan Hospital’s director revealed that two critically injured patients died in the ICU due to a severe lack of medical supplies, particularly blood, as the conflict continues its toll on healthcare.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) confirmed that aid deliveries of essential food and medical supplies are being blocked by Israeli forces, with UNRWA chief Philippe Lazzarini stating, “People attempting to flee are being killed.” In the Jabalia refugee camp, conditions have deteriorated rapidly, with reports of significant civilian casualties from Israeli airstrikes.

Amidst growing international concern, the US has urged Israel to ease the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, especially following the recent killing of a top Hamas leader, raising hopes for ceasefire discussions. Despite these pressures, Israel remains focused on dismantling Hamas, which it blames for a deadly October attack that killed numerous Israelis. The ongoing violence has led to severe criticism from humanitarian organizations, with calls for accountability regarding Israel’s military actions.
