The UK government is set to ban disposable vapes in an effort to combat the growing issue of youth vaping, particularly among children. This move is part of a broader strategy in response to a consultation on smoking and vaping, aiming to address the significant increase in young people using vapes in recent years.
Disposable vapes have become a particular concern, contributing to a ninefold rise in usage among 11 to 17-year-olds over a two-year period. The proposed measures include restrictions on flavors, implementation of plainer packaging, modifications to shop displays, and increased fines for illegal sales.

The overarching objective is to create a smoke-free generation by prohibiting tobacco sales to individuals born after January 1, 2009.
Additionally, the government plans to allocate £30 million annually to enhance enforcement efforts in this regard. The measures aim to curb the rising trend of youth vaping and promote a healthier environment for young people.
