In a disturbing incident in Kaushambi district, Uttar Pradesh, a woman is accused of poisoning her husband after observing the Karwa Chauth fast intended to pray for his long life. The victim, 32-year-old Shailesh Kumar, was allegedly poisoned by his wife, Savita, who suspected him of infidelity.
The incident occurred in the Kada Dham police station area, where Savita was fasting for Shailesh’s longevity while he was preparing for the ritual.

Following an evening argument that seemed to resolve, the couple shared a meal. Afterward, Savita asked Shailesh to run an errand at a neighbor’s house and then fled the scene.
Although Shailesh’s brother Akhilesh rushed him to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. Before his death, Shailesh recorded a video statement implicating Savita in the poisoning.
The police have since arrested Savita and registered a case against her. Kaushambi Superintendent of Police Brijesh Kumar Shrivastava confirmed the details, stating that the victim’s body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
