A young woman who disappeared from Islamabad 17 years ago has finally been reunited with her family. The case of the Missing Daughter resurfaced this week when police informed her relatives that she had been located at the Edhi Centre in Karachi. The woman, now identified as Kiran and aged 27, met her father again on Monday after nearly two decades.
According to Kiran, she left her home as a child to buy ice cream but lost her way. She said she was taken to an Edhi Centre in Islamabad soon after she went missing. Later, under the care of the late Bilquis Edhi, she was moved to the Karachi branch for long-term support and rehabilitation.
Sabah Faisal Edhi, the wife of the Edhi Foundationโs chairperson, explained that the organization made several efforts to locate the girlโs family. Their team visited Islamabad many times but could not find any information that linked back to her home. She said the Edhi Foundation never gave up hope, even though the search yielded no results for years.
Her father, Abdul Majeed, said the family searched endlessly and filed multiple reports, but as time passed, they began to fear they might never find their Missing Daughter. He said the recent breakthrough came after police contacted them, confirming that Kiran had finally been identified through updated tracing methods.
Majeed described the reunion as a miracle. He said meeting his Missing Daughter after 17 long years was a moment he had prayed for every day.
Kiran shared that during her stay at the Edhi Centre, she received education, religious instruction, and emotional support. She said she learned practical household skills like sewing and cooking and was encouraged during moments when she felt she might never return home.

According to Edhi officials, Kiran is the fifth missing girl from Karachi whose family has been successfully traced in recent months. They confirmed that Safe City Punjab played an important role in reconnecting her with her family and closing another long-standing case of a Missing Daughter.
