Pakistani authorities reportedly used Water Cannons on Imran Khan’s sisters and a large number of PTI workers outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi. The incident, which occurred in freezing temperatures, created panic among the crowd and triggered strong reactions from the party. Videos shared online showed people running for safety as powerful streams of water hit them.
According to PTI, Imran Khan’s sisters were staging a peaceful sit-in to demand a meeting with the former prime minister. They claimed that the protest was calm and lawful, yet they were still dispersed using Water Cannons. The government has not issued any official response regarding the use of force.
At around 3:58 AM, PTI’s official account posted footage showing the Water Cannons blasting protesters. The party condemned the action, calling it a “brutal crackdown” and a violation of constitutional rights. Party leaders said the act was unnecessary and aimed at silencing political voices.
Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan released several emotional video messages. She said the state was violating the law and that the family was being denied basic rights. She alleged that Imran Khan had not been allowed to meet his personal doctor for 14 months and that the family had been repeatedly stopped from visiting him.
According to her, these actions were part of an attempt to isolate and pressure the former prime minister.
PTI leaders, including Secretary General Salman Akram Raja, KP President Junaid Akbar Khan, and other senior members, also stood outside the jail. They chanted for justice and demanded that the court orders permitting a family meeting be implemented.
Speaking near the jail, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan strongly criticized the authorities. He said court orders clearly allowed a meeting with Imran Khan, yet they were blocked again. He warned that denying access was only escalating tensions. Despite his efforts, he left without being allowed to meet the former prime minister.
