Travelers Can Fly On as Pakistan Keeps Skies Open with Minor Adjustments

Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has confirmed that the country’s airspace remains fully open, safe, and available for all civil aviation traffic. The clarification comes after a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) announced temporary route restrictions in certain areas.

According to the advisory, selected air traffic service routes in the Karachi and Lahore flight information regions will remain unavailable from March 3 to March 31. The restrictions apply daily between 9 am and 3 pm for operational reasons.

Officials described the NOTAM as a routine step. They said the temporary limitations apply only to specific route segments. These restrictions cover the area from ground level to unlimited altitude during the specified hours. However, the overall airspace remains fully operational.

The PAA stressed that there are no restrictions on commercial flight arrivals, departures, or overflights. Air traffic services are continuing as usual. Alternative routes have been arranged for flights affected by the temporary changes.

Authorities assured Travelers that airport operations are running smoothly. Air traffic controllers and airport teams are managing the situation without disruption. Officials said the temporary route adjustments are part of normal operational planning.

Despite the reassurance, some flight activity was impacted on Monday. No commercial flights operated between the Middle East and Islamabad International Airport, except for one arrival. An Etihad Airways flight from Abu Dhabi landed in Islamabad in the evening.

Flights from Dubai, Sharjah, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Muscat were cancelled after they did not depart from their original airports. However, PAA spokespersons confirmed that Pakistan International Airlines flights to and from Saudi Arabia are continuing as scheduled.

The authority emphasized that Travelers should not panic. The country’s skies remain open, and safety remains the top priority. Temporary route adjustments do not mean a closure of airspace.

Officials advised Travelers to stay in contact with their airlines for the latest updates. They also encouraged passengers to check flight status before heading to the airport.

The PAA reiterated that Pakistan’s airspace remains open and secure for domestic and international flights. Operations continue normally, with only limited route adjustments during specific hours.
