World Cup Quarterfinal Ticket Prices Drop Up to 60% After USA and Portugal Exits

World Cup Quarterfinal Ticket Prices Drop Up to 60% After USA and Portugal Exits

The World Cup secondary ticket market has experienced a sharp decline following the unexpected elimination of the United States and Portugal. The surprise exits have changed fan demand and caused resale ticket prices for several quarterfinal matches to fall significantly.

Industry analysts said many supporters expected a high-profile quarterfinal between the United States and Portugal. That possibility created strong demand for tickets before both teams were knocked out. After Belgium defeated the United States and Spain eliminated Portugal, ticket prices quickly dropped as interest shifted to the remaining teams.

The biggest price decline was recorded for Friday’s quarterfinal in Los Angeles. The cheapest resale ticket was previously listed at nearly $2,950. It is now available for around $1,200. This represents a decrease of almost 60 percent within just a few days.

Experts believe the expected presence of both the United States and Portugal had boosted demand in advance. Portugal’s exit also marked the end of Cristiano Ronaldo’s latest World Cup campaign, reducing interest among many international football fans.

The sudden changes highlight how quickly the resale market reacts during major sporting events. Ticket prices often rise when popular teams remain in the competition. However, they can also fall rapidly after unexpected eliminations.

Not every quarterfinal has seen the same pricing trend. The match between France and Morocco currently offers the most affordable tickets of the round. Entry-level resale tickets are available from approximately $989, making it the least expensive quarterfinal for supporters.

While quarterfinal prices have declined, demand for the World Cup final remains extremely strong. The championship match is scheduled for July 19 in New Jersey. According to the latest resale data, the cheapest ticket currently starts at around $9,346.

Market analysts expect ticket prices for the final to continue changing as the tournament progresses. Prices could increase further depending on which national teams qualify for the championship match. Supporters of the finalists are expected to drive additional demand once the final pairing is confirmed.

Recent market figures also show a noticeable increase in the number of resale tickets available for quarterfinal matches. At the same time, the average resale price has declined across several fixtures. This suggests that more fans are choosing to sell their tickets after their preferred teams exited the competition.

The changing ticket market reflects the unpredictable nature of the World Cup. Unexpected results can quickly influence fan behavior and resale values. While some supporters now have a chance to attend quarterfinal matches at lower prices, the final continues to attract premium demand and remains one of the most sought-after sporting events in the world.
