The Excise Taxation and Narcotics Control Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced a major Crackdown against unregistered vehicles and owners who have failed to pay token taxes.
According to an official statement shared on social media, special teams will be formed to carry out the operation across the province. These teams will include officials from both the excise department and police.
Authorities said the Crackdown will target unregistered cars, motorcycles, and other vehicles operating on roads without proper legal documents. Officials stated that the campaign is aimed at improving compliance with vehicle registration and tax laws.
Vehicle owners have been advised to immediately register their vehicles and clear all pending token taxes. The department warned that failure to comply could result in strict legal action.
Officials stated that the Crackdown will include heavy fines, vehicle seizures, and further legal proceedings against violators. Authorities also confirmed that impounded vehicles will only be returned after valid registration documents are presented and verified.
The department emphasized that all vehicle owners must ensure their records are complete and updated. Officials said timely payment of token taxes is necessary to avoid penalties and legal complications.
According to the statement, enforcement teams will begin checking vehicles on major roads and public areas. Unregistered vehicles and tax defaulters will be identified during routine inspections and special operations.
The District Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control office also appealed to citizens to cooperate with authorities. Officials urged people to follow regulations and complete registration procedures as soon as possible.
The latest move comes as provincial authorities continue efforts to improve tax collection and strengthen monitoring systems. Officials believe stricter enforcement will help increase revenue and reduce the number of unregistered vehicles on roads.
Transport experts say many vehicle owners delay registration or token tax payments due to lack of awareness or negligence. However, authorities insist that legal requirements must be followed by all motorists.
The department also warned that no leniency would be shown during the operation. Legal action will continue against anyone found violating registration and tax rules.
Citizens have been encouraged to visit excise offices or use online services to verify vehicle records and clear outstanding dues. Officials said cooperation from the public would help ensure smoother implementation of the campaign.
