Punjab Bans Summer Camps in Schools From July 1

Punjab Bans Summer Camps in Schools From July 1

The Punjab Education Department has announced a complete ban on Summer Camps in all public and private schools from July 1. Authorities warned that strict action will be taken against institutions that fail to comply with the new directive.

According to an official notification, schools will not be allowed to organize Summer Camps after June 30. The department clarified that the earlier permission granted for these activities was valid only until the end of June and has not been extended.

The decision was made due to the ongoing heatwave and rising temperatures across the province. Education officials said the move is aimed at protecting students, teachers, and school staff from the health risks associated with extreme weather.

Authorities stated that children are more vulnerable to heat-related illnesses during prolonged periods of high temperatures. They said limiting school activities during the hottest weeks of summer is necessary to reduce potential health hazards.

The Punjab Education Department also made it clear that any school violating the ban will face strict legal and administrative action. Officials warned that educational institutions must fully comply with the latest instructions.

Schools found conducting Summer Camps after July 1 could receive heavy fines and show-cause notices. In cases of repeated or serious violations, authorities may also cancel the institution’s operating license.

To ensure the new orders are followed, the department has directed all District Education Authorities to immediately inform schools about the revised policy. Local education officials have also been instructed to monitor compliance closely.

Special monitoring teams have been formed across the province. These teams will begin inspecting schools from July 1 to ensure that no educational institution continues summer camp activities.

Officials said immediate action will be taken against any school found violating the governmentโ€™s instructions. The department stressed that protecting the health and safety of students remains its highest priority.

The extreme weather conditions have increased concerns among parents and education authorities alike. Medical experts have repeatedly warned that excessive heat can lead to dehydration, heat exhaustion, and other serious health complications, particularly among children.

Many parents have welcomed the government’s decision to suspend summer camp activities. They believe the measure will help protect children from unnecessary exposure to dangerous temperatures.

Parents have also encouraged students to use the remaining holiday period to rest at home and complete their holiday assignments. They said the break will allow children to return to school refreshed and better prepared for the upcoming academic session.

The Punjab Education Department has urged all schools to cooperate fully with the latest directives. Officials said the restrictions are temporary and have been introduced solely to safeguard students during the ongoing heatwave.

Authorities will continue monitoring weather conditions and school compliance in the coming weeks. Further decisions regarding educational activities will be announced if necessary based on public safety considerations.
