Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said that Technology-Empowered youth can play a vital role in Pakistan’s future. In her special message on World Youth Skills Day, she stressed the importance of equipping young people with modern skills to support national development and economic growth.
Maryam Nawaz said that today’s youth are Pakistan’s greatest strength. She added that young people with technology and professional training can contribute to the country’s progress in many fields. She encouraged students and graduates to focus on freelancing, information technology, and technical education to build successful careers.
The chief minister reaffirmed the Punjab government’s commitment to preparing a Technology-Empowered generation. She said the government is investing heavily in skills development so that young people can compete in local and international job markets.
According to Maryam Nawaz, the provincial government has allocated significant funds for youth development programmes. These initiatives aim to provide training, financial support, and employment opportunities across Punjab.
She highlighted the success of the Asaan Karobar and Asaan Finance schemes. Under these programmes, more than 108,000 people have received financial assistance. She said the Asaan Karobar Scheme is offering interest-free loans ranging from Rs1 million to Rs30 million to help young entrepreneurs start or expand their businesses.
Maryam Nawaz also spoke about the Agriculture Internship Programme. She said 2,000 young people are currently receiving a monthly stipend of Rs60,000 under the initiative. The programme is designed to improve practical agricultural skills while creating employment opportunities for graduates.
The chief minister said vocational training institutes across Punjab are offering internationally recognised courses. These programmes include technology, construction, masonry, welding, tile fixing, and heavy vehicle maintenance. She added that the training is aligned with global industry standards to improve employment prospects.
She further shared that around 10,000 young people from Punjab have secured jobs in Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries. According to her, these placements have been made after providing skills that match international market requirements.
Maryam Nawaz said that, for the first time in Punjab, modern subjects such as e-commerce, digital marketing, and advanced IT have been included in educational and vocational training programmes. She believes these subjects will prepare students for the changing demands of the digital economy.
The chief minister also highlighted the SEHR Programme, which focuses on women’s empowerment. Under the initiative, 5,365 women are receiving training in modern beautification, hospitality, and airline management. Participants are also being provided free laptops and a monthly stipend of Rs7,500 to support their learning.

Maryam Nawaz concluded that a Technology-Empowered workforce is essential for Pakistan’s long-term growth and prosperity. She said the Punjab government will continue expanding programmes that provide young people with practical skills, financial support, and better career opportunities in both local and international markets.
