Punjab Opens Applications for Phase 3 of Livestock Card with Interest-Free Loans Up to Rs. 540,000

Punjab Opens Applications for Phase 3 of Livestock Card with Interest-Free Loans Up to Rs. 540,000

Punjab has started accepting applications for the third phase of the Livestock Card scheme. The initiative aims to support livestock farmers by providing interest-free financing for animal nutrition and feed. The program is part of the provincial government’s efforts to improve livestock farming and increase productivity across Punjab.

Under the latest phase, eligible farmers can receive an interest-free loan of up to Rs. 540,000. The amount can be used to purchase approved animal feed, silage, mineral mixtures, and other nutritional products. These items must be bought from registered dealers approved under the scheme.

The Livestock Card is available to livestock farmers who live in Punjab and meet the required eligibility criteria. Applicants must own between five and 20 eligible male calves or buffalo calves. This requirement ensures that the financial support reaches small and medium-scale livestock farmers.

Farmers must also have a valid Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC). In addition, they need an active mobile number registered in their own name. Their animals must be registered and verified by the Punjab Livestock and Dairy Development Department before the application can be approved.

The amount provided under the scheme depends on the number of eligible animals owned by the applicant. However, the maximum financing available through the Livestock Card remains Rs. 540,000. This funding is intended to help farmers improve the nutrition of their animals without paying any interest.

The third phase also introduces an additional benefit for cardholders. Eligible farmers can now withdraw up to 25 percent of their approved loan amount in cash. This feature offers greater flexibility for meeting livestock-related expenses while continuing to use the remaining funds for approved feed purchases.

The Punjab government has encouraged eligible farmers to apply as soon as possible. Authorities believe the scheme will strengthen the livestock sector and support farmers facing rising feed costs. Better nutrition can improve animal health and increase milk and meat production.

Farmers can submit their applications through the official Punjab Livestock Card portal. They may also visit the nearest veterinary hospital or a Livestock Department facilitation center. These offices provide assistance with animal registration, verification, and the application process.

The government expects the third phase of the Livestock Card scheme to benefit thousands of livestock farmers across Punjab. By offering interest-free financing and easier access to essential animal feed, the program aims to improve the livelihoods of farmers and promote sustainable livestock development in the province.
