Goods transporters have threatened another strike if the Sindh government fails to provide land for parking near Karachi Port. They are demanding 17 acres of land despite receiving clearance from the Karachi Port Trust (KPT).

The development was reported by 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday. Transporters say a dedicated parking area is urgently needed to address their operational problems.

Representatives of the goods transport sector recently held a detailed meeting with the KPT chairman. During the meeting, they discussed their concerns and presented their demands regarding parking facilities.

However, the issue remains unresolved, as transporters are waiting for the Sindh government to provide the required land.

Transporters Demand 17 Acres for Parking

All Pakistan Goods Transporters Alliance President Malik Shehzad Awan stressed the need for a proper parking facility at Karachi Port. He warned that transporters could launch another strike if the government failed to meet their demand.

According to the alliance, the proposed 17-acre site would help address parking difficulties faced by goods transporters. A dedicated area could also provide space for vehicles operating around the port.

Transporters have raised concerns over the lack of suitable parking arrangements. They want the provincial government to take action and resolve the issue before another protest begins.

The demand comes despite clearance from the Karachi Port Trust. Transporters are now seeking the Sindh government’s cooperation to secure the required land.

Previous Strike Caused Rs450 Billion Loss

Malik Shehzad Awan also highlighted the financial impact of the transporters’ previous strike. He claimed that the national exchequer suffered losses of Rs450 billion during their strike in August 2026.

The reported losses have added importance to the ongoing dispute. Another strike could affect goods movement and create further difficulties for businesses that depend on transport services.

Karachi Port plays an important role in Pakistan’s trade and cargo movement. Transporters help move imported and exported goods between the port and destinations across the country.

Any disruption to these operations could affect supply chains and cargo transportation. Businesses relying on timely deliveries may also face delays if transport activities are suspended.

Sindh Government Faces Pressure to Resolve Issue

The transporters’ warning has placed renewed pressure on the Sindh government to address their demand. They want the authorities to provide the requested land and establish a suitable parking facility.

The meeting with the KPT chairman provided an opportunity to present their grievances. However, the transporters’ demands remain unresolved, and the provincial government’s next steps are awaited.

Malik Shehzad Awan has warned that another strike remains possible if the parking issue is not addressed. The alliance is seeking a solution to prevent further disruption to goods transportation.

For now, the transporters’ next move will depend on the government’s response. An agreement over the 17-acre parking site could help prevent another strike and maintain cargo movement through Karachi Port.
