ISLAMABAD: The Prime Minister’s Apna Ghar Program has distributed over Rs. 100 billion in housing loans across Pakistan.

The initiative aims to help low- and middle-income families purchase or build affordable homes.

According to official figures, the program has provided Rs. 104 billion in financing to 17,697 families.

Khurram Schehzad, Advisor to the Finance Minister, shared the latest figures as of October 30, 2026.

The data shows that housing Loan disbursements have increased by 404 percent since June 2026.

Housing Loan Approvals Reach Rs. 533 Billion

The Apna Ghar Program has received 220,715 applications from families seeking affordable housing finance.

Of these applications, 90,405 have received approval, reflecting an approval rate of approximately 41 percent.

The total value of approved housing loans has reached Rs. 533 billion.

However, only 17,697 families have received financing under the program so far.

The figures highlight growing demand for affordable housing and increased financial support through the initiative.

In June 2026, total loan disbursements stood at Rs. 21 billion.

By October 30, the amount had increased to Rs. 104 billion.

Meanwhile, the value of approved loans rose from Rs. 144 billion to Rs. 533 billion.

This represents an increase of approximately 269 percent during the same period.

Government Expands Affordable Housing Scheme

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif launched the Apna Ghar Scheme in April 2026.

The nationwide initiative focuses on improving access to affordable housing for families with limited financial resources.

The government has allocated Rs. 3.2 trillion to support the five-year housing program.

Under the initiative, authorities aim to finance the construction of 500,000 homes across Pakistan.

The scheme allows eligible applicants to obtain housing loans of up to Rs. 10 million.

Borrowers can repay the financing over a period of up to 20 years.

A subsidized fixed markup rate of 5 percent applies during the first 10 years.

After this period, market-based markup rates will apply to the remaining repayment period.

Banks Facilitate Housing Financing

The Apna Ghar Program supports both residential property purchases and home construction.

Eligible families can apply through participating commercial banks, Islamic banks, and microfinance institutions.

The House Building Finance Company also participates in implementing the initiative.

These financial institutions process applications and provide financing according to the program’s requirements.

The government’s latest figures indicate significant growth in housing finance approvals and disbursements.

However, the number of families receiving funds remains lower than the total number of approved applications.

The program is expected to continue supporting eligible households seeking affordable homeownership.
