NAB Raids Bahria Town Karachi, Seizes Vehicles in Ongoing Investigation

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) recently conducted a raid at Bahria Town Karachi, resulting in the seizure of several vehicles. These vehicles have been transferred to the NAB office as part of an ongoing investigation into the illegal allotment of approximately 17,000 acres of land within the development.

This inquiry is focused on uncovering illegal land dealings within Bahria Town Karachi, which has faced multiple investigations. A few months ago, NAB also froze commercial properties within the development as part of its broader investigation into the property dealings of Bahria Town.

In a significant legal development, the Accountability Court in Karachi has issued summons for Malik Riaz, the owner of Bahria Town, and other key individuals involved in the case. Malik Riaz, along with his son Ali Riaz, son-in-law Zain Malik, and additional accused, have been ordered to appear before the court and respond to the charges by July 15. The summons were publicly issued through newspaper advertisements after multiple failed attempts to have the accused attend court hearings.

The actions taken by NAB are part of a broader effort to investigate property-related misconduct linked to Bahria Town Karachi. Recently, the Director General of NAB Karachi authorized the confiscation of properties tied to Malik Riaz and other involved individuals. NAB’s Special Public Prosecutor has officially requested the court to confirm the seizure of these properties.

As the investigation continues, it remains to be seen how these developments will affect the future of Bahria Town Karachi and its stakeholders. The legal proceedings are closely followed, as the outcome could set a precedent for similar cases in the future.

In other news, the accused in the Kohistan case has once again sought a settlement with NAB. Read more about the latest developments in our full report
