Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned the recent missile attacks on Saudi Arabia, calling them unacceptable and a serious threat to regional peace and stability.
In an official statement, the prime minister said any attack on Saudi Arabia‘s sovereignty and territorial integrity is unacceptable. He added that such incidents increase security risks across the Middle East.
Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s full support for the kingdom during the current situation. He said Pakistan stands firmly with Saudi Arabia and remains committed to its security and stability.
“The security and protection of Saudi Arabia remain a priority for Pakistan,” the prime minister said. He added that Islamabad will continue supporting efforts that promote peace, dialogue, and regional cooperation.
The statement came after ballistic missile attacks targeted southern parts of the kingdom. According to Saudi officials, the country’s air defence systems successfully intercepted and destroyed the missiles before they reached their intended targets.
Earlier, Pakistan also condemned the missile attacks during an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council. The session focused on the ongoing situation in Yemen and rising tensions in the region.
Pakistan’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Usman Jadoon, addressed the Security Council. He reiterated Pakistan’s consistent support for Saudi Arabia‘s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.
Jadoon also expressed Pakistan’s support for Yemen’s sovereignty, independence, unity, and territorial integrity. He urged all sides to avoid further escalation and resolve differences through peaceful dialogue.
He called on all parties to exercise restraint and strengthen diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions. According to Pakistan, dialogue remains the best path toward lasting peace in the region.
The missile attacks were claimed by Yemen’s Houthi movement. The group accused Saudi Arabia of carrying out air strikes on Sanaa International Airport before launching the missiles.
Saudi-led coalition spokesperson Major General Turki Al-Maliki said Houthi forces fired ballistic missiles toward southern Saudi Arabia. He confirmed that Saudi air defence systems intercepted and destroyed the incoming missiles before they caused damage.
No major damage or casualties were immediately reported following the interceptions. However, the attacks have raised fresh concerns about regional security and the ongoing conflict in Yemen.
Pakistan has consistently supported diplomatic efforts to resolve regional disputes through peaceful means. The government has repeatedly emphasized the importance of protecting civilians and maintaining stability across the Middle East.
