WhatsApp Hack Alert: Your Messages Might Already Be Compromised

A serious WhatsApp vulnerability has shocked millions worldwide after reports revealed that journalists, human rights defenders, and activists were targeted in recent spyware attacks. Security experts warn that the flaw could allow hackers to exploit arbitrary URLs, enabling them to access sensitive content from victims’ devices.

The vulnerability is believed to be connected to Apple’s latest zero-click flaw, identified as CVE-2025-43300. Cybersecurity specialists fear that this weakness could fuel large-scale surveillance operations, putting vulnerable groups at even greater risk.

This development adds to growing concerns over digital privacy and security. WhatsApp, being one of the most widely used messaging platforms globally, has become a critical target for attackers. Experts emphasize the need for users to keep their applications updated and remain cautious of suspicious links or unknown senders.

In parallel with these alarming findings, Microsoft announced that multi-factor authentication (MFA) will soon be required for almost all Azure accounts. The new policy applies to Azure CLI, PowerShell, REST API, and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools, with only read-only operations excluded.

While companies facing technical challenges may receive extensions until July 2026, security specialists caution that unprotected accounts remain highly vulnerable.

Meanwhile, the open-source FreePBX system has also come under attack. Hackers are exploiting a CVSS 10-rated vulnerability, which allows remote code execution and even database tampering.

Emergency security patches have been released for versions 15, 16, and 17. However, older versions remain at high risk. The US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has urged immediate updates and warned administrators to watch for suspicious account activity.

Adding to global cyber concerns, Nissan confirmed that its design arm, Creative Box Inc., has been struck by the Qilin ransomware group. This gang is notorious for its large-scale extortion campaigns targeting major corporations.

The series of incidents, from the WhatsApp spyware issue to ransomware attacks on global companies, highlights an urgent need for stronger cybersecurity measures worldwide.
