ECP Initiates Ballot Paper Delivery Process

As the general election in Pakistan approaches, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has initiated the distribution of 260 million ballot papers across 859 National Assembly and provincial assembly constituencies.

The ballot papers were printed at three government presses, and some required reprinting due to court decisions on candidacy-related petitions. This election cycle reflects a significant increase from 2018, with 2,170 tons of paper utilized, and the total of 260 million ballot papers represents a 40 million increase from the previous election. The ECP aims to complete the delivery process ahead of the February 8 vote.

Despite time constraints and challenges, the ECP successfully completed the printing of ballot papers on schedule. The Central Control and Monitoring Centre has been established to address any complaints related to the elections, with 221 complaints received so far, and 198 of them already addressed. The ECP staff has been actively addressing issues, including violations of the election code of conduct and complaints related to civic content.

The election results will be relayed through the Election Management System (EMS), and any complaints about the EMS are being addressed to ensure a smooth electoral process.
