JI Confirms Contact with PTI for Possible Government Formation

Deputy Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Liaquat Baloch, confirmed on Tuesday that the party has been in contact with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) regarding the formation of the government.
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has reportedly given its consent for unified action with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) after a telephonic conversation between JI leader Sirajul Haq and PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar, Ali Amin Gandapur, and Senator Azam Swati. The two parties are expected to meet soon in Islamabad to discuss further details and options for forming a government or playing the role of the opposition.

“As a political party, we are open and don’t have any demand, PTI has yet to put forward their demands.”
JI expressed openness and stated that if PTI needs JI to protect their independent candidates, they would welcome them. The development comes as different political parties explore potential alliances and arrangements following the recent general elections.
Earlier, the Pakistan Peoples Party-Parliamentarian (PPPP) had contemplated a potential offer to let Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) take the lead in forming the central government. The proposal was discussed as PTI-backed candidates secured victories in the majority of National Assembly seats. However, PTI founder and party chief Imran Khan categorically denied any possibility of an alliance with PPP, PML-N, or MQM-P. The political landscape in Pakistan is still evolving as different parties explore various options and alliances following the recent general elections.
