In 2016, Arshad Khan, a charismatic tea seller, shot to fame as ‘Arshad Chaiwala’ after a photo captured by local photographer Jiah Ali went viral on social media. Today, Arshad has transformed from a local sensation into an international entrepreneur, spearheading a thriving global brand cleverly named Café Chaiwala.
In a recent interview with Digital Pakistan, Arshad shared insights into his journey from a modest café in Islamabad to launching franchises worldwide. He expressed his aspiration to enhance Pakistan’s global presence, citing the dearth of Pakistani brands venturing onto the international stage as his driving force. Arshad stated, “I always dreamt of creating my own brand.”
“Running a café in Islamabad would have sufficed for me, but I launched my brand with the aim of putting Pakistan on the world map,” he emphasized, highlighting his goal of generating employment opportunities while showcasing Pakistan’s potential globally.

The 24-year-old entrepreneur asserted, “In Pakistan’s history, no brand has gone global within just 6 months.” Despite initially content with his modest café, Arshad’s ambition and determination spurred the rapid expansion of his brand within half a year, fueled by his desire to create more job opportunities and avenues for growth.
Regarding Café Chaiwala’s outlet on Ilford Lane in London, Arshad confirmed, “We have finalized agreements for ten additional outlets [in London].”
When questioned about his personal life, including his romantic prospects, Arshad revealed that he is yet to tie the knot despite receiving numerous proposals. “I will announce my readiness for marriage when the time is right,” he stated firmly, clarifying that he is currently unattached romantically.
Following his viral fame for his captivating blue eyes and handsome features, Arshad had opportunities in showbiz, including modeling contracts and film roles. However, he opted to return to his roots in Islamabad and focus on his venture, Café Chaiwala.
In 2020, the former tea seller inaugurated Café Chaiwala, a rooftop café in Islamabad. Explaining the establishment’s name, Arshad told Urdu News, “Many suggested renaming it as Arshad Khan, but I declined because Chai Wala is my identity.” He shared how he still brews tea for his friends when they visit, staying true to his roots.
