ISLAMABAD: The PMDC has announced updated guidelines for students planning to study medicine and dentistry in foreign institutions. The move aims to ensure clear academic standards and proper registration procedures.
According to an official notice, the PMDC has made it mandatory for students to meet specific eligibility requirements before applying abroad. These rules apply to all candidates seeking admission in medical and dental colleges outside Pakistan.
The PMDC stated that students must score at least 50 percent in the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT). They may also qualify through an equivalent foreign entry test accepted by relevant authorities.
In addition, the council has set a minimum academic requirement for prior education. Students must have at least 60 percent marks in FSc Pre-Medical or an equivalent qualification.
Officials said these conditions are necessary to maintain academic standards. The PMDC also warned students to carefully follow the rules to avoid issues during future registration.
The council emphasized that failure to meet these requirements may create problems in degree recognition. It may also affect eligibility to practice medicine or dentistry in Pakistan later.
The PMDC has also made online registration compulsory for students going abroad for medical education. This step is required for provisional registration and future licensing procedures.
Students who complete their studies abroad will need to pass the National Registration Examination (NRE). The PMDC said this process ensures that returning graduates meet national professional standards.
Officials added that registration with the council is essential for anyone planning to practice in Pakistan after foreign education. Without it, degrees may not be recognized for professional use.
The PMDC advised students to visit its official website for complete details. It also encouraged applicants to complete all procedures before applying to foreign institutions.
