The hearing was attended by the parents of Sana Yousaf, who were present in court during the final decision. Prosecutor Raja Naveed Hussain and the familyโs lawyer Sardar Qadeer also appeared during the proceedings.
The court had earlier reserved its judgment after final arguments from both sides were completed. During the hearing process, the court directed the accused to appoint legal counsel. The case was briefly paused before resuming for final arguments.
The prosecution presented strong evidence in the case of Sana Yousaf. Officials informed the court that 27 witnesses were produced to support the charges. They said Umar Hayat was arrested a day after the killing and later identified through an identification parade.
Medical evidence was also presented in court. A doctor from PIMS Hospital testified and submitted the post-mortem report. The report confirmed serious injuries, stating that bullets were fired with clear intent to kill.
According to the prosecution, the gunfire severely damaged the heart and lungs of Sana Yousaf. This evidence was used to support the murder charge against the accused.
Investigators also told the court that the accusedโs phone number was recovered from the victimโs mobile device. The phone of Sana Yousaf was later recovered and identified by her father at a police storeroom.
The prosecution further said that mobile data, chats, and location tracking helped identify Umar Hayat. They added that communication between the accused and the victim had already been established during the investigation.
