A severe hot and dry spell continues across most parts of the country. The ongoing Sizzling weather has especially affected Sindh and southern Balochistan, causing extreme temperatures in several cities.
According to the Meteorological Office, the highest temperature recorded today was in Sibi. The mercury rose sharply to 43 degrees Celsius, marking one of the hottest readings of the day.
Other cities also experienced intense heat. Larkana, Dadu, and Turbat recorded temperatures around 42 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Nawabshah, Sukkur, and Hyderabad reached nearly 40 degrees Celsius.
In Punjab, Bahawalpur and Faisalabad reported temperatures close to 39 degrees Celsius. Karachi remained relatively lower at 34 degrees Celsius, but humidity made conditions uncomfortable.
Officials warned that the Sizzling weather is likely to persist, with continued dry and hot conditions expected in many regions. Citizens have been advised to take precautionary measures during this heatwave.
The Met Office recommended avoiding direct sunlight during peak hours. People have also been urged to stay hydrated and drink plenty of water and fluids throughout the day.
Health experts say prolonged exposure to Sizzling weather can cause heat exhaustion and dehydration. They have advised special care for children, elderly individuals, and outdoor workers.
Earlier forecasts indicated that this extreme heatwave would last from May 7 to May 11. During this period, several regions are experiencing above-normal temperatures.
In Karachi alone, the recent heatwave conditions had already resulted in multiple fatalities. Reports suggest that at least 14 people lost their lives due to extreme heat-related complications.
Officials continue to monitor the situation as Sizzling weather conditions remain active across southern and central regions. Emergency services are also on alert to respond to heat-related cases.
Authorities have once again urged the public to stay indoors during peak afternoon hours. They also advised wearing light clothing and avoiding unnecessary outdoor activity.
With Sizzling weather still affecting large parts of the country, experts believe the situation requires continued caution and public awareness to prevent further health risks.
