Asia Cup: India Women Dominate Pakistan With a Decisive Performance

Smriti Mandhana (45 off 31) and Deepti Sharma (3-20) led India Women to a commanding seven-wicket victory over Pakistan in their second Asia Cup match at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on Friday.

Chasing a target of 109 runs, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led team completed the chase with 35 balls to spare. Openers Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana set a strong foundation with an 85-run partnership.

Mandhana, with her experience, scored a solid 45 from 31 balls, including nine boundaries, before being dismissed by Syeda Aroob Shah. Verma contributed a crucial 40 off 29 balls, with six boundaries and one six.

For Pakistan, Aroob Shah (2-9) and Nashra Sandhu (1-20) were the only wicket-takers.

Pakistan, batting first, had a rough start with only four players reaching double digits. Sidra Amin (25 off 35), Fatima Sana (22 off 16), and Tuba Hassan (22 off 19) were the main contributors.

India’s bowlers, led by Deepti Sharma (3-20), performed well, with Renuka Singh (2-14), Shreyanka Patil (2-14), and Pooja Vastrakar (2-31) each taking two wickets. Radha Yadav was the only bowler not to take a wicket.
