Pakistan Football League Delayed After Zabe Khan Withdraws

Former Global Soccer Ventures CEO Zabe Khan has withdrawn from involvement with the Pakistan Football League (PFL), stating he has no connection to the league. Khan clarified on Twitter that he is neither a shareholder nor an employee of PFL, and no longer has any association with Global Soccer Ventures.

Reports indicate that two franchises, based in Quetta and Islamabad, have also pulled out of the PFL. These withdrawals come ahead of the league’s inaugural season, which was scheduled to begin on November 10 with a total of eight teams.

The league is being organized by PFL UK Holdings, led by Farhan Junejo, a Pakistani-origin English businessman. Initially, five franchises were announced at the league’s launch in June 2024, including Zalmi FC, Lahore FC, Sialkot FC, Faisalabad Lions FC, and Lyari Tigers FC.

Further complications have arisen as three sporting directors have resigned from their franchises, and PFL organizers have not addressed franchise owners’ concerns since the league’s launch. The lack of communication from PFL Chairman has left the future of the league uncertain.
